Enjoying our first little sprouts 10.9.2018
Growing lotus is a wonderful lesson in science and local culture and requires lots of careful attention. These plants need just the right amount and type of light, water, heat, etc, to mimic the perfect growing conditions found in nature. All of their care and patience paid off. You can see lots of happy faces here as the children celebrate the vibrant growth of their sprouts!
Our children are reflected in these lotus sprouts. The lifecycle of a lotus plant is perpetual once that life inside breaks forth. A seed buried in the mud for so long finally takes root in the mud and begins to grow. It overcomes the barrier of the surface of the water to break forth and rise above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. Then each night it submerges into the murky waters. And undeterred by its environment, miraculously re-emerges each morning to bloom once again without residue on its petals. This is the aspiration for each of our children - that this life inside them would break forth and grow! Through careful cultivation, they can break through the surface of this worldly living and bloom with remarkable beauty, day after day, undeterred by their environment - to go through life without residue on their petals!
