Learning German words and a song with Nicci Czerniawski 1.16.2018
Tonight, the children revisited the German lessons they had been enjoying earlier in the summer with the joyful instruction by Nicci. Before they dove into the lesson, they took the time to share a little bit about their day. Each child was eager to share about the progress they have made so far in the school year, as today was report card day!
Next, it was on to the refresher course, as they reviewed numbers, colors and popular greetings in German. We were impressed at how well the children remembered their German studies from a few months ago. With much anticipation, they moved on to new words and phrases. They learned words related to the winter season such as “snowflake”, “winter”, etc., as well as the German names for all the seasons.
Lastly, Nicci gave each child the English and German versions of an iconic song that children in Germany learn from when they are young. We sang this together along with a YouTube video of this song.
It was so enjoyable to see our children’s minds being broadened and to see the joy as they learn new things. Truly, they enjoy learning about the German language and culture from an authentic German! Wunderbar!
